AYCN is pleased to announce the ASEAN Media Forum organized by AMIC to be held in Bangkok on 9th and 10th November 2010. Members from Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Singapore, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand are encouraged to submit papers for the youth panel at the Media Forum.

The topic for the youth panel is: "Media for ASEAN Youth Community"
What are the most effective media tools to reach youth audiences and help in the process of ASEAN community building?

All papers will be selected on a competitive basis and an expert panel will be appointed for screening all the submissions. Kindly email the full papers (approximately 15 pages in length and double spaced) along with contact information and a brief bio to [email protected]. The deadline for submission is August 30th, 2010.

For questions write to [email protected]. Selected presenters will be funded by AMIC for travel and accommodation.

AYCN also invites participants for a full day workshop conducted by Madanmohan Rao, the Editor of The Asia-Pacific Internet Handbook, at the ASEAN Media Forum. Details are as follows:

Workshop Topic: Social Media in Asia: Growth, Opportunities and Challenges

The workshop will discuss questions such as how widespread is social media in Asia? How will it impact areas ranging from news media and disaster relief to entertainment and social entrepreneurship? What are the challenges related to infrastructure, tools, policy and culture? How to start and develop a social media network in ASEAN for regional community building?

The workshop will also be instrumental in coming up with a plan of action for future activities that will contribute towards building a youth news network for the Asia-Pacific community. We welcome all our members to come and participate at this workshop and the media forum.
